Tech giant Apple is seeking a preliminary injunction in its ongoing trade secrets lawsuit against OpenAI, attempting to block the company from developing hardware or products based on Apple’s proprietary technology.
In a recent court filing, Apple stated that its internal investigation indicates at least 11 additional former employees may have been involved in or witnessed the unauthorized transfer of confidential information before joining OpenAI.
According to Apple, the company has uncovered evidence that former staff members met to discuss unannounced products before employment interviews at OpenAI, while others allegedly retained company-issued devices or took screenshots of trade secrets.
Apple requested expedited discovery from the court, citing concerns over the protection of its intellectual property.
In response, OpenAI released a public statement denying the allegations and describing the legal motion as unnecessary. The artificial intelligence firm maintained that it does not possess or seek Apple’s trade secrets, emphasizing its focus on developing its own original technologies.
