Ibadan Woman Alleges Forced Ritual, Extortion After Viral Oloolu Masquerade Video

Wasila, the Ibadan woman who recently went viral after claiming she encountered the Oloolu masquerade, has alleged that she was subjected to a forced ritual, extorted and made to give a false account of the incident.

Speaking in a video circulating online, Wasila denied earlier claims that she began bleeding after seeing the revered masquerade.

“I was never bleeding because I saw Oloolu. The traditional worshippers asked me to say I was bleeding because they wanted to go live and record me,” she said.

She further alleged that the group demanded ₦400,000 before releasing her.

According to Wasila, she was also forced to undergo humiliating treatment, including having her hair shaved and goat’s blood poured on her during the ordeal.

“They collected ₦400,000 from me before they let me go,” she claimed.

The incident sparked widespread debate on social media after videos of Wasila surfaced online following her encounter with the Oloolu masquerade, a traditional cultural symbol in Ibadan.

Her latest claims have generated fresh reactions, with many Nigerians calling for a thorough investigation into the allegations of extortion, intimidation and forced ritual practices.

As of the time of filing this report, the traditional worshippers mentioned in the allegations had not publicly responded to Wasila’s claims.
