Federal Govt Mourns 15 Farmers Killed In Borno, Prays For Missing 3

The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Sen Abubakar Kyari, has mourned the 15 farmers killed by terrorists in Marte local government area of Borno State and prayed for the recovery of three others still missing.

The Minister, who was in Maiduguri for the Second CAADP Community of Practice on the Implementation of the Kampala Agenda, which began yesterday, described the attack as tragic.

He condoled with the Borno State Government, families of the victims, and the farming community, noting that farmers remain central to Nigeria’s food security drive.

He said the Federal Government is working with security agencies to ensure safe access to farmlands and to prevent recurrence.

The Minister also prayed for the quick recovery of the injured and the safe return of the three missing farmers.

LEADERSHIP recalls that Boko Haram/ ISWAP terrorists killed the 15 farmers around Ala and Musune wards of Marte local government area.

It was gathered that the victims were ambushed on their farmlands on Wednesday evening.

Sources said only 15 bodies out of the 18 people who went to the farms were found and buried on Thursday, while three others remained missing.
