Poco Lee To Face UK Court In September Over Rape, Sexual Assault Allegations

Nigerian dancer and hype man, Iweh Odinaka, popularly known as Poco Lee, has been remanded in a United Kingdom prison as he faces five counts of sexual offences, including rape and assault by penetration.

According to the Snaresbrook Crown Court in London, the entertainer has been formally charged with one count of attempted rape, two counts of rape, and two counts of assault by penetration.

A court administrator, James Baker, confirmed the charges to journalists, noting that a strict reporting restriction has been imposed to protect the identity of the complainant under the UK’s Sexual Offences Amendment Act 1992.

Poco Lee is scheduled to appear before the court on September 15, 2026, for a plea and trial preparation hearing.

Reports of the entertainer’s detention surfaced in mid-August after Benjamin Kuti, the founder of the Community of Nigerians in the United Kingdom, confirmed that Poco Lee was being held on remand in a British facility awaiting trial.

In response to the development, Poco Lee’s management team, led by Adedoyin Faleye, issued a statement urging the public to allow the legal process to run its course before drawing conclusions. The team also dismissed circulating social media rumors regarding “drink-spiking.”

“We are particularly concerned by the volume of unverified narratives currently circulating, including claims referencing ‘drink spiking,’ amongst other allegations which do not form part of any of the allegations or charges before the court,” the management stated.

Meanwhile, Nigerian entertainment colleagues, including music video director TG Omori and socialite Rahman Jago, have publicly expressed support for the dancer, describing the ongoing legal situation as heartbreaking while urging the public to wait for the facts to unfold in court.

Poco Lee has not been convicted, and the charges remain allegations pending the court’s final determination.
