The family of late Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba has called for privacy and understanding as they mourn her passing, while denouncing what they described as the circulation of false and unverified reports about the circumstances of her death.
In a statement posted on Osoba’s official Instagram page on Thursday, the Awonuga/Osoba family expressed concern over what they called misleading accounts surrounding her demise.
“At this difficult time, we wish to categorically state that the numerous claims circulating on social media and various blogs regarding the circumstances surrounding her death are false, speculative, and entirely unauthorised,” the statement read.
The family appealed to members of the public to avoid spreading unverified information, noting that such reports have only compounded their pain.
“We respectfully urge the public to refrain from sharing or promoting misinformation that only adds to the pain our family is already enduring,” the statement added.
They further requested that their privacy be respected during the mourning period, stressing the need for space to grieve without the distraction of speculation.
“We kindly ask that everyone allow us the dignity, privacy, and time to grieve without the burden of unfounded rumours and sensational narratives,” the family said.
The statement also clarified that any official information concerning Osoba’s passing would come only from the family or its authorised representatives.
“Should there be any information the family wishes to make public, it will be communicated through our official channels and by authorized representatives only. We ask the public and members of the media to rely solely on those official statements and to disregard all unverified reports,” the statement said.
The family concluded by thanking everyone who has offered prayers, condolences and support, while urging the public to honour Temitope Osoba’s memory by respecting their request for privacy during this difficult time.
