The inspector-general of police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, and the director-general of the National Orientation Agency, Lanre Issa-Onilu, have pledged to deepen collaboration on promoting national values, civic responsibility, and conflict prevention across the country.
The commitment was made on Thursday during a courtesy visit by the NOA director-general to the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
Speaking during the visit, Issa-Onilu reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to promoting national values, civic responsibility, and public enlightenment through initiatives such as the Nigeria Identity Project and the National Values Charter.
He said the programmes are designed to strengthen national cohesion and foster responsible citizenship, adding that closer collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force would enhance public sensitisation, intelligence sharing, and early conflict prevention.
According to him, stronger synergy between both institutions will help build public trust, improve community engagement, and support efforts aimed at maintaining peace and security across the country.
In his remarks, the inspector-general of police stressed the importance of professionalism, respect for human dignity, and ethical policing as essential pillars for strengthening public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.
Disu also called on Nigerians to use social media responsibly by verifying information before sharing it, warning that the spread of false information could undermine public safety and national unity.
The police chief further encouraged the promotion of positive values among young people, noting that responsible citizenship remains critical to sustainable national development.
He reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to sustained collaboration with the National Orientation Agency in advancing national security, responsible citizenship, and national development.
