Armed bandits have allegedly killed a young phone charging shop operator and his mother during an attack on Unguwar Bako village in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State.
According to a social media post shared by X (formerly Twitter) user @iambabangida, the attackers stormed a phone charging shop and ordered the operator to hand over all the mobile phones that customers had left in his care for charging.
The post claimed that the young man refused the demand, explaining that the phones belonged to his customers and had been entrusted to him, making it impossible for him to surrender them.
It further alleged that the bandits immediately shot him dead. Moments later, his mother, who reportedly came out of their house after hearing the gunshot to find out what had happened, was also allegedly shot and killed by the attackers.
The incident was said to have occurred in Unguwar Bako village, Kankara LGA, a part of Katsina State that has experienced repeated attacks by armed groups in recent years.
However an official of the local council, Ibrahim Sulaiman , confirmed the incident, but said it arme robbers that attacked the young man and not bandits
As of the time of filing this report, the Katsina State Police Command had not issued an official statement on the incident .
