Zamfara APC Primaries: Court Fixes August 31 For Judgment

The Federal High Court sitting in Gusau, Zamfara State capital, has fixed August 31, 2026, for judgment in a suit filed by the All Progressives Congress, APC, senatorial candidate, Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, against Senator Sahabi Ya’u Kaura, the APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

The presiding judge, Justice Hussaini Dikko, fixed the date on Friday after parties in the suit adopted their final written addresses.

The parties to the suit are Shinkafi as plaintiff, and Senator Kaura, APC and INEC as defendants.

Counsel to the plaintiff, Bello Galadi, told journalists after the court session that both parties had adopted their final addresses as directed by the court at its last sitting.

“The Court has fixed 31st of August for judgment. We are confident it will be in favour of our client, especially as we presented before the court all formidable evidence to prove our claims,” Galadi said.

Shinkafi, who contested the APC primary election for Zamfara North Senatorial District, is challenging the result submitted by the APC and endorsed by INEC.

He is disputing the declaration of Senator Sahabi Ya’u Kaura as the party’s candidate for the district.
