2027: Gov Kefas Pledges Victory For Tinubu In Taraba

Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, has declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is poised for a sweeping victory in the state in the 2027 general elections, pledging to deliver votes for President Bola Tinubu and other APC candidates from top to bottom.

Governor Kefas made the declaration in Jalingo while playing host to the national chairman of the APC, Prof Nentawe Yilwatda, who was in the state as part of activities marking his birthday, including a medical outreach for residents.

The governor said the APC had become the preferred choice of the people of Taraba because the party’s administration at both the federal and state levels was focused on addressing the needs of the people.

“Taraba State is your state. Taraba State is APC. What Mr President has done, and the interest he has shown in Taraba, cannot be quantified by the vote we’re going to give him.

“So were going to commandeer a vote for neighbouring states to ensure that he has all the votes he needs. In Taraba State, we are not contesting elections with any party, anybody. We only have candidates from other parties participating in elections with us,” Kefas said.

He added that his administration would mobilise support for President Tinubu because the Federal Government had demonstrated commitment to the development and security of Taraba State.

He particularly cited the recent approval for the establishment of a Nigerian Army division with headquarters in Jalingo as one of the major steps taken by the Federal Government to strengthen national security and promote the unity of the country.

“Recently, Mr President approved the establishment of a Nigerian Army Division to be with the headquarters in Jalingo in Taraba State. These are great things that Mr President has done to keep the unity and the progress of this country,” the governor said.

He assured the APC that the state government would continue to provide the necessary support to enable the Tinubu administration to achieve its development objectives.

“We’ll do everything within our reach as a sub-national to give him all the necessary support he needs to be able to move this country in the direction that we deserve to be, so that we’ll be truly the giant of Africa,” he said.

The governor also expressed optimism that Taraba would emerge as one of Nigeria’s major tourism destinations, saying his administration was committed to developing the state’s tourism potential.

He urged the APC national chairman to take note of the challenges facing the state, assuring him that the government would work with the party leadership to accelerate development across the state.

On his part, the APC national chairman, Prof Nentawe Yilwatda, declared that the ruling party was not only interested in winning elections but also committed to improving the lives of Nigerians, particularly vulnerable citizens.

Prof Yilwatda said he was in Taraba as part of activities marking his 58th birthday, which featured a medical outreach organised in partnership with the Taraba State Government.

The APC chairman said the intervention, which included medical surgeries, eye treatment, medication and other forms of assistance, was a demonstration of the “human face” of the ruling party and a practical expression of its commitment to the principles of unity, progress and justice.

He commended Governor Agbu Kefas for partnering with the national leadership of the party to extend the medical outreach across the three senatorial zones of the state.

Yilwatda also disclosed that the APC had undertaken similar interventions in other states, including the provision of grants to entrepreneurs and the distribution of equipment worth over N1 billion to support vulnerable Nigerians and promote economic empowerment.
