CAF Sets 2027 AFCON Dates, Confirms Hosts For Major 2026-27 African Competitions

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed key dates and host countries for its major 2026-27 competitions as it moves to establish a more stable and predictable football calendar.

CAF announced that the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, to be jointly hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, will take place from June 19 to July 17, 2027, with qualifying matches beginning in September 2026.

South Africa will host the 2026 CAF Super Cup in Tshwane on November 8. The match will feature Champions League winners Mamelodi Sundowns against Confederation Cup holders USM Alger.

CAF also announced that Ghana will host the Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations in February and March 2027, while Morocco will stage the Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations in April and May.

Egypt will host the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations, which will also serve as the qualifying tournament for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.

Morocco will host the 2026 Futsal Africa Cup of Nations from October 12 to 21, while Senegal will stage the CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations in November.

At club level, CAF confirmed that the preliminary rounds of the 2026/27 Champions League and Confederation Cup will begin from September 4 to 6, with return legs scheduled for September 11 to 13.

The football body said the confirmed calendar would provide greater certainty for member associations, players, broadcasters, sponsors and supporters, while also improving planning and creating clearer competitive pathways across African football.
