Photographs released on Monday showed Shettima browsing through books during the leave period.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications in the Office of the Vice President, Stanley Nkwocha, described the period as an opportunity for the Vice President to study and reflect away from the demands of his official responsibilities.

“As predicted by many, during his two-week leave, Vice President Kashim Shettima, by custom, takes time for study and reflection,” Nkwocha said.

He explained that taking time away from the pressures of daily governance allows leaders to consider ideas more deeply and return to their responsibilities with renewed clarity.

“A time to read, reflect, and learn,” Nkwocha said, describing Shettima’s approach to the leave.

He added, “Leadership is sustained by the willingness to keep learning… For the Vice President, the period is also an opportunity to deepen the knowledge required for continued service to Nigeria.”

According to him, learning remains an essential part of leadership, particularly for those entrusted with greater responsibilities.

“Learning does not end when responsibility begins. In many ways, greater responsibility makes learning even more necessary,” he said.

Shettima commenced the two-week leave on August 7 and is expected to resume official duties around August 20.
