The race for the 2027 governorship seat in Nasarawa State has taken a decisive turn as Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada’s camp inaugurated a formidable grassroots political structure of over 300 coordinators across the state.
At a grand ceremony held at the Global Village Suites Hotel in Karu, the Advisory Council of the WADADA PROJECT, an independent campaign organization rooting for the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship hopeful, inaugurated 18 Development Area Coordinators, 147 Electoral Ward Coordinators and 147 Ward Women Leaders.
The move is seen as an early and strategic consolidation of grassroots structures to lock down votes long before the 2027 polls.
Chairman of the Advisory Council and Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Kwanta Yakubu, who also serves as Coordinating Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport, told the newly inaugurated officials that their mandate is clear – results.
“You are being commissioned into an assignment that has no other objective than result. This is a political mobilization platform of concerned citizens committed to the wholesale mobilization for the Wadada Governorship Project,” Kwanta declared.
According to him, the appointments are a call to duty for the realization of “a Nasarawa State under one love, one life, and one destiny” after the exit of Governor Abdullahi Sule, whom he described as a leader who has placed Nasarawa “beyond national reckoning” economically.
The inauguration also turned into a show of financial muscle for the Wadada project, as former Nigerian Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Amb. Henry Omaku, announced a donation of N5 million to the campaign, while the APC flag bearer for Karu/Keffi/Kokona Federal Constituency, Hon. Daniel Ogah Ogazi, donated N1 million.
Other top APC stakeholders who delivered goodwill messages and pledged loyalty to both the APC and the Wadada candidature include the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Isaac Danladi, Esq., Commissioner for Commerce, Trade and Industry, Mohammed Ottos, former lawmaker, Hon. Abdullamid Kwarra, and Chairman of the City Boy Movement, Nasarawa State, Dr. Yahaya Abdullahi Jaji.
The event was also attended by the APC flag bearer for Akwanga/Nasarawa Eggon/Wamba Federal Constituency, Hon. Tony Bala Shammah, council chairmen, local government coordinators of the project and other party faithful.
Speaking on behalf of the inaugurated coordinators, the officials thanked the Advisory Council for the trust reposed in them and vowed to leave no stone unturned to deliver Senator Wadada and all APC flag bearers in 2027.
