Davido Appeals to Trump to Monitor Osun Election, Warns Against Violence

Afrobeats star Davido has called on US President Donald Trump and the international community to pay close attention to the forthcoming Osun State governorship election, citing concerns over possible violence and voter intimidation.

The singer made the appeal on X as the state prepares for the August 15 poll. Davido, whose uncle, Ademola Adeleke, is seeking another term as governor, said Osun residents should be able to participate in the election without fear.

He urged relevant authorities to protect voters and ensure that the electoral process remains peaceful and credible.

Davido’s intervention comes amid heightened political activity in the state ahead of the governorship contest, with concerns over security and the conduct of the election receiving increased attention.

In his message addressed directly to Trump, the singer appealed for the United States and other members of the international community to closely watch developments surrounding the poll.

“There are growing concerns about tension and the possibility of violence, intimidation, or disruption of the democratic process,” he wrote.

Davido stressed that he did not want violence or intimidation during the election and called instead for transparency and a free and fair process.
