MAAUN Founder’s Vision Will Benefit Millions, Says Sokoto Deputy Governor

The deputy governor of Sokoto State and alumns of Maryam Abacha American University, Maradi (MAAUN), Hon. Idris Muhammad Gobir, has praised the university’s Founder, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, for his investment in education, saying the institution’s vision will create opportunities for thousands and potentially millions of people.

Gobir spoke at a ceremony marking the leadership handover of the Maryam Abacha American University of Niger-Maradi.

The deputy governor, who described himself as one of the institution’s pioneer students, said he was honoured to be part of the event, recalling that he belonged to the first set of students admitted into the university’s PhD programme.

“I am one of those people that are pioneers of MAAUN Niger, and more especially when it comes to the PhD class. We were the first set of the university,” he said.

Gobir said his association with MAAUN had remained a source of pride, noting that his academic journey at the institution spanned undergraduate, master’s and doctoral studies.

“We are always proud and associated with Maryam Abacha American University Maradi, because it really makes us proud. I am now a PhD holder from the university,” he said.

He added that he obtained his BSc, MSc and PhD from the institution, describing himself as a member of the wider MAAUN family.

“I have BSc, MSc and PhD from Maryam Abacha American University. I have become a family of the university. We always pray for the university to go to the sky,” Gobir said.

The deputy governor commended Gwarzo for his commitment to expanding opportunities through education, describing the founder as someone whose efforts were focused on helping people improve their lives and achieve their aspirations.

“Alhaji Adamu Abubakar is the kind of person that we always pray to have and hope to have in our community, because he is one of those people that all he is doing and hoping is pushing people to better, to create opportunities for others to realise their dream,” he said.

Gobir also expressed pride in his continued association with the institution, describing himself as a former student, associate and member of the MAAUN family.

“I am always proud to be one of your students, associate and family of MAAUN,” he said.

He thanked Gwarzo for his vision and investment in education, stressing that establishing and sustaining an institution of such magnitude required foresight and commitment.

“Gwarzo, thank you very much. The kind of vision, God bless you,” the Deputy Governor said.

According to him, the impact of the investment would extend beyond the present generation, with the potential to benefit millions of people through educational and other opportunities.

“This is a vision for somebody at your age to think of, coming in with this kind of investment in education. This kind of investment, thousands and even millions will benefit from it,” he said.

Gobir reaffirmed his pride in being associated with MAAUN and prayed for the continued growth and success of the institution.
