Davido Urges Trump, International Community To Monitor Osun Election

Afrobeats star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has appealed to United States President Donald Trump and the international community to pay close attention to the forthcoming Osun State governorship election.

Davido raised concerns over the possibility of violence, intimidation and disruption of the electoral process ahead of the August 15 election.

The singer made the appeal in a post on his X account on Tuesday, directly tagging Trump and calling for international attention to the election.

He said the people of Osun State should be allowed to exercise their constitutional right to vote freely and peacefully without fear.

Davido also urged the United States and other members of the international community to encourage relevant Nigerian authorities to protect voters and ensure that every vote cast is respected.

He said, “We do not want bloodshed. We do not want intimidation. We want peace, transparency, and a free and fair election.”

The singer has been an outspoken supporter of his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is seeking re-election on the platform of the Accord Party.

His latest appeal comes amid increasing political activities and tensions ahead of the governorship poll, with major political parties intensifying their campaigns across the state.

Davido had earlier spoken out over the election, including calling on Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma to refrain from interfering in the Osun poll.

Uzodimma is the chairman of the All Progressives Congress national campaign council for the Osun governorship election.

Davido had also vowed to resist any attempt to manipulate the outcome of the election, as he continues to campaign for his uncle’s re-election.
