2027: Bauchi Lawmaker Withdraws APM Candidacy For Itas/Gadau Assembly Race

The incumbent member representing Itas/Gadau Constituency in the Bauchi State House of Assembly and chairman of the House committee on petitions, Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Itas, popularly known as Mai Yadi, has announced his withdrawal from the 2027 election for the constituency.

Mai Yadi, who is also the deputy chairman of the House Committee on local government and chieftaincy affairs, announced his decision in a letter addressed to the State Chairman of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM), dated October 5, 2026.

The letter, which was made available to LEADERSHIP yesterday, did not state the reason for his decision, but simply said that it was entirely voluntary and personal.

In the letter, the lawmaker said, “I write to give notice of my withdrawal as Allied Peoples’ Movement candidate for Itas/Gadau State Constituency seat in the Bauchi State House of Assembly in the forthcoming 2027 General Election, having been duly nominated by our great party.”

He described the decision as entirely voluntary and personal, while expressing appreciation to the leadership and members of the party for the opportunity to serve under its platform.

“I am therefore grateful to the Party’s leadership and members for the opportunity to represent the Party and for the confidence placed in me. I equally appreciate the encouragement and support of the people of Itas/Gadau State Constituency,” he said.

Mai Yadi was elected to represent the constituency in the Bauchi State House of Assembly and currently serves in key committees of the legislature.
