Kaduna-based Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has reacted to Islamic Cleric Sheikh Yahya Jingir’s Muslim-Muslim ticket comment.
Jingir’s remarks at a political event in support of Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf had sparked widespread condemnations.
Taking to his verified Facebook page on Monday, Sheikh Gumi said Jingir should be excused for his extreme political views.
Gumi accused opposition parties of using religion to garner votes, warning that in a multi-religious nation, religion should not be dragged into the quagmire of dirty politics.
According to Gumi, “Sheikh Jingir should be excused for his extreme view in politics, he dwells in the eye of the storm of excessive bigotry against Islam. Just recently, a Muslim VC in Plateau state is stirring controversy. On the other hand, the opposition is also not free from using religion to garner votes. In a multi-religious entity, religion should not be dragged into the quagmire of dirty politics,” he stated.
