Nollywood actress Ngozi Ezeonu has raised concerns about the circulation of counterfeit medicines, baby food and other consumer products in Nigeria, warning that unsuspecting families could be putting their health at risk.
In a video shared on social media, the veteran actress urged Nigerians to pay greater attention to the products they purchase and bring into their homes.
Ezeonu expressed particular concern about the potential impact of fake products on children and families, pointing to what she described as an alarming rise in serious health problems.
“I don’t understand what’s happening in this country anymore. When you go to hospitals, you see young people dying with kidney problems, liver problems, because everything is fake!” she said.
The actress did not provide evidence linking specific cases of kidney or liver disease to counterfeit products, but used the observation to underline her concern about the consequences of unsafe goods.
She urged consumers to exercise greater caution when buying medicines, baby food and other everyday products, particularly those whose authenticity may be difficult to establish.
Her comments come amid continuing public concerns over the availability of substandard and counterfeit consumer goods in the country.
