Kefas Sends Taraba Lawmakers, LG Chairs, Others To Jaji For Training

Taraba State governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, has sponsored key government officials for a one-week intensive leadership and peace training at the Martin Luther Agwai International Leadership and Peacekeeping Centre, Jaji, Kaduna State.

The beneficiaries include members of the state House of Assembly, permanent secretaries and chairmen of the 16 local government areas.

Other participants are members of the Taraba State Independent Electoral Commission (TSIEC), officials of the Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, as well as political advisers to the state government.

The training, which commenced with a combined inauguration, is designed to strengthen the leadership capacity of the participants and deepen their understanding of peace, security and conflict-management dynamics in the discharge of their duties.

The commissioner for Information and Re-orientation, Barr. Zainab Usman, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Jalingo, the state capital

She said the programme was part of the Kefas administration’s broader efforts to strengthen institutions and improve the quality of governance in the state.

According to her, the course will expose the participants to the knowledge and practical skills required to provide effective leadership, manage emerging security and peace-related challenges, and enhance institutional performance.

Usman said the governor had, since assuming office, consistently prioritised the training and retraining of government officials and civil servants as a strategy for improving professionalism and service delivery.

“The Governor has consistently supported the training and retraining of government officials and civil servants, providing opportunities for them to acquire new knowledge, improve their professional competencies and develop the leadership skills required to serve Tarabans more effectively,” she said.

Barr. Usman stressed that the latest initiative underscored the administration’s commitment to building strong and responsive institutions capable of delivering on the aspirations of the people.

She added that the training was also intended to deepen participants’ appreciation of the responsibilities attached to public office, particularly the need to promote peace, stability and effective governance at the grassroots.

The commissioner said the Kefas administration remained committed to “building people, strengthening institutions and preparing Taraba for a more peaceful, capable and prosperous future.”

She explained that, the training was particularly important given the strategic roles played by the participants in governance, local administration, electoral management and policy implementation across the state.
