Veteran Nollywood actress Rita Edochie has reacted to the ₦1 billion defamation lawsuit filed by Judy Austin against her, challenging the actress to face her in court.
Judy Austin recently instituted separate legal actions against Rita Edochie and her ex-husband, Mr Obasi, over alleged defamatory statements.
In the suit against Rita, Judy is reportedly seeking ₦1 billion in damages, as well as a retraction, apology and removal of the alleged defamatory statements.
Reacting to the development, Rita questioned whether Judy Austin should be described as a husband snatcher, insisting that she was ready for the court proceedings.
“Is Judy Austin a husband snatcher, yes or no? I’m ready for the court sitting. You will regret making such decisions. They said you’re not the first person to take another woman’s husband and try putting her home in shambles and chaos.
While I agree to this, I still need to say that you will be the first to face the full repercussions. You will be the first to contend with karma. You will be the first person to get back the heat of what you already dished out,” she said.
Rita Edochie has been vocal about her position on Judy Austin and her relationship with Yul Edochie, following Yul’s split from his former wife, May Edochie, with her criticism of Judy continuing to attract attention online.
Her latest remarks come as the long-running feud takes a legal turn, with Judy seeking damages and other reliefs from Rita over statements she considers defamatory.
