Nollywood actor Clemson Cornell Agbogidi has recounted an experience he claimed occurred while working with veteran actress Liz Benson on a movie set.
According to the actor, Benson became uncomfortable with his portrayal of a native doctor and subsequently refused to continue with the scene.
Agbogidi made the revelation while speaking about his experience in the movie industry, claiming that the veteran actress was convinced that a real native doctor had been brought to the set to act alongside her.
“Liz Benson ran away and refused to act after what I did on set! She said they brought a real native doctor to act with her,” he said.
The actor also discussed traditional African religious practices, arguing that people who practised indigenous religions before the spread of Christianity should not necessarily be regarded as evil.
He maintained that traditional worship existed before Christianity arrived and suggested that the beliefs of African forefathers should be viewed within their historical context.
“Before Christianity, our forefathers were there. Most of those who worshipped idols were not evil,” he added.
His comments have generated reactions on social media, with some users discussing his acting abilities and his portrayal of traditional characters.
Reacting to the claim, one user wrote, “He is really a great actor and he interprets his roles very well.” Another added, “Mummy Liz had to run for her life. 😁😁 Oh, great Nollywood world.”
