The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has restored four previously suppressed State House of Assembly constituencies in Delta and Kogi states, following court judgments directing their reinstatement.
The restored constituencies comprise three in Delta State , Abraka, Isoko North II and Ughelli South II , and Yagba West II State Constituency in Kogi State.
The Commission, in a statement issued on Friday by its National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Kudu Haruna, said party primaries for candidates seeking to contest the restored constituencies would hold between August 21 and 25, 2026.
According to INEC, the period will coincide with the conduct of party primaries for bye-elections to fill recent vacancies in the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency of Gombe State, Disina and Sakwa State Constituencies of Bauchi State, Udu State Constituency of Delta State, and Dawakin Kudu State Constituency of Kano State.
The Commission said elections into the affected constituencies have been scheduled for September 19, 2026.
It added that all other timelines and activities contained in the already published revised Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the 2027 General Election will apply to the restored constituencies.
INEC urged political parties to submit notices of their respective primaries to the Commission before the scheduled dates.
The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to conducting credible, inclusive and transparent electoral processes.
