Son, Mother Allegedly Hire Assassin to Kill Father in Kano

Nura Usman and his mother, Izzatu Aminu, are facing charges of conspiracy and attempted murder at a Magistrate Court sitting in Nomansland in Kano.

The defendants are accused of plotting to kill Nura’s father, Alhaji Usman Shanono, at Dantsinke Quarters in Kano.

They allegedly hired an assassin and paid him ₦500,000 to carry out the killing. However, the alleged assassin reportedly informed Shanono of the plan rather than carrying out the assignment.

According to the account, Shanono and the assassin then staged his death to make the accused believe the operation had been successful. The assassin reportedly took Shanono’s wristwatch and other personal belongings and presented them as proof of the alleged killing.

The accused subsequently reportedly announced Shanono’s death, leading relatives and sympathisers to gather for mourning.

The situation reportedly took a dramatic turn when Shanono appeared alongside security operatives, revealing that his death had been faked.

Magistrate Sakina Amina Yusuf subsequently adjourned the case to September 7, 2026, for further proceedings
