NIPSS Urges Bauchi To Harness Creative Economy For Job Creation

The National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, has identified Bauchi State as a strategic hub with the potential to drive rapid economic diversification in Nigeria.

The institute said the state’s growing creative economy, coupled with the ingenuity, resilience and enterprise demonstrated by local artisans, traders, small business operators and other entrepreneurs, presented significant opportunities for economic growth.

Director-General of NIPSS, Prof. Ayo Omotayo, stated this at the closing of the paper presentation and interaction session of the institute’s Senior Executive Course 48, 2026, local study tour in Bauchi.

Represented by Air Commodore Hamisu Chinoko Usman, the NIPSS director-general said the study tour focused on the Orange Economy, economic diversification, development frameworks, investment opportunities and policy options for sustainable development in Bauchi State.

He said the findings from the study tour had shown that Bauchi possessed significant economic assets which, if properly harnessed through sound policies, strategic investments, institutional support and public-private partnerships, could translate into prosperity, employment opportunities and wealth creation.

According to him, the knowledge and insights generated during the study tour should not end with discussions but must be converted into concrete actions, stronger partnerships and practical policies capable of unlocking the state’s economic potential.

He urged stakeholders in the state to build on the opportunities identified by the participants and develop sustainable strategies for inclusive economic growth.

Earlier, the Bauchi State Head of Civil Service, Barr. Mohammed Sani Umar, said the study tour had provided an important platform for the state to engage with policy leaders and development experts on issues of governance and sustainable development.

He commended the 48 participants of the course for their discipline, intellectual engagement and constructive contributions throughout the programme.

Umar noted that the high level of interaction during the presentations demonstrated the participants’ commitment to learning and finding practical solutions to Nigeria’s development challenges.

He also appreciated NIPSS for selecting Bauchi State to host the Senior Executive Course 48, 2026, local study tour, and congratulated the institute and participants on the successful completion of the academic and interactive sessions.
