Osun Election 2026: Reset Nigeria Movement Says Voters’ Power Prevailed, Congratulates Adeleke

The Reset Nigeria Movement has congratulated Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, following the outcome of the 2026 Osun election, saying the result demonstrated that the power of voters could prevail despite political challenges and intense competition.

In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Osi Iwenekhai, the movement commended the people of Osun State for what it described as their “remarkable resilience, courage and steadfastness” throughout the political struggle leading to the election.

The group said the outcome was a reminder that democracy ultimately belongs to the people and that Nigerians must remain confident in their ability to determine the direction of the country through their votes.

“Above all, it is a reminder that the most powerful tool in the hands of Nigerians is their vote,” the statement said.

The Reset Nigeria Movement urged Nigerians to draw lessons from the Osun experience ahead of the 2027 general elections, calling on citizens to exercise their democratic rights without fear, intimidation or manipulation.

It said leadership should be earned through the trust of the people and sustained through accountability, competence and a genuine commitment to public service.

The movement also specifically commended Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde for standing firmly behind Adeleke throughout what it described as a difficult political journey.

According to the group, Makinde’s support demonstrated that political courage was not solely about winning elections, but also about defending democratic principles when doing so was difficult.

It said the Oyo governor’s position reflected the importance of loyalty, courage and solidarity in democratic politics, as well as his belief in the right of citizens to freely determine who governs them.

The movement recalled Makinde’s earlier statement that, “The 2027 election won’t be PDP versus APC; it would be Nigerians versus APC,” arguing that the outcome in Osun represented a victory for Nigerians.

“In this round of the fight, Nigerians won,” it declared.

The group said the significance of the Osun election extended beyond the state, arguing that it had demonstrated the ability of citizens to resist political pressure and defend their democratic choices.

It expressed optimism that Nigerians would apply the lessons from Osun in 2027 and remain firm in choosing leaders they believe can best serve their interests.

However, the Reset Nigeria Movement also mourned Nigerians who lost their lives in election-related violence.

It described every life lost in the pursuit of political power as “one life too many,” extending condolences to the families of the victims and calling for accountability.

“Elections must never become a battlefield, and no political ambition is worth the life of a Nigerian,” the movement said.

As preparations for 2027 gather momentum, the group urged Nigerians to remain informed, vigilant and courageous, saying voters should choose leaders with the capacity, competence and character to move the country forward.

“Osun has shown what is possible when the people stand their ground. In 2027, Nigerians must stand even stronger. The will of the people must prevail,” it said.
