Political economist and former presidential candidate, Prof. Pat Utomi, has described the outcome of the just-concluded Osun State governorship election as proof that “evil has an expiry date.”
Utomi stated this in a post on X on Tuesday while reacting to the outcome of the election.
According to him, the election demonstrated that even individuals he considered “unworthy” could play a role in stopping what he described as “the train.”
“If Osun elections proved a point, it is that evil has an expiry date and that even the unworthy can be used to stop the train,” he wrote.
The political economist said the development had further reinforced his belief that righteousness remained critical to the progress of a nation.
“Righteousness does indeed exalt a nation and its opposite is a reproach to any people,” Utomi said.
Utomi also criticised some governors who defected from their political parties during the period surrounding the Osun election, describing their actions as one of the biggest sources of shame associated with the poll.
“The biggest shame of Osun were the ‘defecting’ Governors who left town in the cover of darkness like rain-drenched hens,” he wrote.
He accused the governors of betraying the people, warning that they would eventually face judgment for their actions.
“Judgement for betrayal of the people still awaits them,” Utomi added.
