Actors in the movie ‘The Night of June 7th’ have shared their experience acting in the true-life story at the ‘Apo Six’ event.
The Night of June 7th, which will begin showing in cinemas nationwide from Friday, August 28, 2026.
According to Femi Branch Osunkoya, who played the character of Officer James in the film, it is a must-watch.
”It is very important that when things like this happen, we should not sweep them under the carpet,” he said of the importance of The Night of June 7th.
”These young men and women, their story needs to be told.
”It’s very important that you come out and see this film, mostly because we cannot afford to forget,” he added.
Also, Justin Ben, who played the role of Chika, spoke about his experience in interpreting his role in the movie.
”One of my favourite things as an actor is depicting real life,” Justin Ben said, explaining why he agreed to play the role.
”It was challenging for me because this is actually the story of someone who has lived, not fictional.”
He added that he also played the role “to be a voice” for the voiceless.
Justin went on to challenge Nigerians to share their positive and negative police stories so everyone can learn from them.
The Night of June 7th stars Femi Branch, Ali Nuhu, Gideon Okeke, Charles Lenny, and more.
The movie, written and produced by Linda Ikeji and directed by Toka Mcbaror, dramatises the true, tragic story of the “Apo Six”—five young traders and a female friend who were extrajudicially killed by police officers in Abuja on June 7, 2005.
