With the official commencement of campaigns for the 2027 general elections today, the Allied People’s Movement (APM) has said it has lined up strategies, including running an inclusive, people-driven campaign, to defeat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the polls.
The party also said it is confident of winning the 2027 presidential election, given the popularity of its presidential candidate, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, who, it said, possesses the best governance credentials, including a blueprint to salvage the nation from the current misrule of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
APM National Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Abubakar, told newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday that the APM has set up a “very strong and highly efficient campaign machinery”, which he said would be unveiled to the public soon.
Abubakar said the APM had been engaged in nationwide consultations and had built very formidable alliances with other opposition parties to use its platform and candidate to confront and take power from the APC in the January 2027 presidential election.
Insisting that the APM will win the 2027 presidential election, Abubakar said the party would do everything within the ambit of the law to ensure that its winning votes are protected.
According to the APM spokesman, “Tomorrow marks the official commencement of campaigns and, as a party, I can assure you that we are ready for the task ahead. We have a very popular presidential candidate in Governor Seyi Makinde, and we have worked out strategies to ensure not only that we win the ballot but also that our winning votes are firmly protected.
“We are working hard and will leave no stone unturned in our efforts to mobilise Nigerians for this election. We have assembled very credible hands to manage our campaign. We will unveil our campaign machinery to the public soon.
“Nigerians are eager to oust the APC from power due to President Tinubu’s abysmal failure in office. Most Nigerians have expressed their readiness to vote for Seyi Makinde as a credible alternative to President Tinubu. Of course, last Saturday’s governorship election in Osun State has shown the power of the people in an election. Come January 2027, Nigerians will speak with one voice for Seyi Makinde.”
Abubakar called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies to ensure that the 2027 elections are free, fair and credible, and that only the will of the people, as expressed at the ballot, prevails.
