The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has approved the promotion of 7,472 personnel, comprising 2,134 officers and 5,338 marshals, in a major career advancement exercise designed to reward merit, strengthen professionalism and enhance road safety operations across Nigeria.
The promotion, described by the Corps as a significant investment in human capital, recognises personnel who have demonstrated dedication, competence, discipline and commitment in the discharge of their responsibilities.
Beyond the elevation in rank, the FRSC said the exercise comes with greater responsibility for the beneficiaries, who are expected to translate their new positions into improved service delivery and stronger contributions to the reduction of road traffic crashes nationwide.
Under the arrangement, heads of departments, corps officers, heads of special units and commanding officers will decorate the newly promoted personnel under their respective commands between Wednesday, August 26 and Friday, August 28, 2026.
FRSC spokesperson, Osondu Ohaeri said in a statement that the decoration exercise will be conducted in accordance with the corps’ administrative instruction on the decoration of newly promoted officers and marshals.
Congratulating the beneficiaries, the corps marshal, Shehu Mohammed described the promotion as both a reward for hard work and a fresh call to greater responsibility.
Mohammed urged the newly promoted personnel to justify the confidence reposed in them by demonstrating higher levels of professionalism, accountability, discipline, integrity and leadership in the discharge of their duties.
He stressed that the effectiveness of the FRSC goes beyond patrol vehicles, technology and enforcement systems, noting that the quality and character of personnel remain critical to the Corps’ ability to deliver on its road safety mandate.
The corps marshal further charged the promoted personnel to treat members of the public with dignity while remaining firm, disciplined and committed to enforcing traffic regulations and promoting responsible road-use practices.
According to him, every new rank must come with a corresponding increase in responsibility and a renewed commitment to serving the Nigerian motoring public.
He emphasised that promotion within the FRSC should remain a key instrument for building a professional, responsive and performance-driven institution capable of meeting the evolving demands of road safety management.
