ICPC Tracks 29 Constituency Projects Worth N2.06bn Across Bauchi

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has commenced the tracking of 29 constituency projects valued at N2,062,155,613.98 across Bauchi State.

The exercise is part of the Commission’s efforts to ensure that government-funded constituency projects awarded by members of the National Assembly are executed in accordance with approved specifications and Bills of Quantities, thereby ensuring value for money.

The tracking exercise, which commenced on August 17, 2026, is being conducted by the Constituency Projects Tracking Group (CPTG), comprising officials from the commission’s headquarters in Abuja and its Bauchi office.

Speaking yesterday on the exercise, the team leader, Assistant Chief Superintendent of the ICPC, Mohammed Abdullahi Tanko, said the Commission was committed to monitoring the execution, implementation and performance of government-funded constituency projects across the country.

Tanko said the chairman of the Commission, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, had directed Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), as well as members of the National Assembly, to ensure that funds allocated for government and constituency projects were properly utilised and corresponded with the level of work executed at project sites.

He explained that the exercise was aimed at curbing the diversion of public funds allocated for constituency projects and preventing the abandonment of projects after funds had been released.

According to him, the Commission would continue to deploy technology, including digital tracking and forensic tools, as well as collaborate with relevant stakeholders to monitor and audit public infrastructure projects across the country.

The team leader urged affected MDAs and members of the National Assembly whose constituency projects had been abandoned to mobilise their contractors back to site.

He warned that the Commission would not relent in tracking government-funded projects and would take appropriate action, including sanctions, against individuals found to have violated relevant laws or misused public funds.
