Taraba State Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas has directed Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to integrate climate-related programmes in their annual plans and budgets as the state unveiled its Climate Change Policy and Action Plan 2026.
He gave the directive at the launch of the state’s climate change policy and action plan organised by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change in Jalingo.
The governor stressed that it must translate into concrete programmes, projects and measurable results rather than remain a government document.
He directed the ministry to develop an implementation and monitoring framework with clear responsibilities, timelines and measurable targets, while coordinating the policy across government.
The governor said climate change was already affecting communities through irregular rainfall, flooding, drought, erosion, bushfires, environmental degradation and water scarcity.
