UBA Chairman Tony Elumelu has reportedly met and reconciled with the young woman who sparked an online debate after addressing him by his first name during a recent UBA event.
The woman, who is enrolled in UBA’s Graduate Management Programme, faced a wave of criticism online after a video showed Elumelu correcting her and asking her to address him as “Mr Elumelu” or “Chairman”.
The exchange, which took place during an interactive session at a UBA graduate programme ceremony, quickly went viral and generated differing views over workplace etiquette, respect and the use of first names in corporate settings.
The latest update is that the two have met and resolved the matter, bringing an end to the controversy surrounding the viral encounter.
