US Moves To Revoke Citizenship Of 2 Nigerians, 38 Others Over Fraud

The United States (US) government has started legal proceedings to revoke the citizenship of two Nigerians and 38 other naturalised citizens over alleged fraud and serious criminal offences.

The US Department of Justice announced on Monday, October 5, 2026, that it filed denaturalisation complaints in multiple federal courts between August 21 and October 2, 2026.

According to US officials, the affected individuals lied about their criminal records, immigration history, or identities during their citizenship applications.

The two Nigerians named in the court filings in Maryland are Douglas Chukwuka Eze and Beatrice Chioma Nwaoha Ashamole.

Court documents allege that Eze used a stolen identity to obtain immigration benefits, while Ashamole concealed past arrests, false aliases, and previous deportation orders during her naturalisation process.

US Attorney General Todd Blanche stated that the government will continue to revoke citizenship from individuals who lied during the application process or pose security threats.
