Nollywood actress Dayo Amusa has explained why a promotional video for her new movie appeared on her social media page while the Yoruba film industry was mourning veteran actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo.
The actress addressed the controversy in a video after the post attracted strong reactions from followers who questioned the timing of the promotion.
Amusa said the video had been scheduled before news of Ogogo’s death became known, meaning its appearance was not a deliberate decision to promote her movie during the period of mourning.
She explained that by the time she noticed the post and considered removing it, it had already attracted a significant number of comments and reactions.
The actress expressed disappointment over the abuse she received from some social media users, saying people had cursed and insulted her without knowing that the content had been prepared in advance.
Amusa’s explanation comes after the timing of the post sparked criticism online, with some users interpreting it as insensitive to the death of the veteran actor.
