ADC National Chairman Mourns Eagle Online Publisher, Dotun Oladipo

National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator David Mark, has expressed sadness over the death of the Publisher of Eagle Online, Mr. Dotun Oladipo.

Mark, in a condolence message issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Kola Ologbondiyan, described Oladipo’s death as a loss to the Nigerian media industry.

He said the late journalist contributed to the development of journalism and democratic discourse in Nigeria through his professional practice.

According to him, Oladipo distinguished himself through professionalism, courage and commitment to responsible journalism, particularly at a time when the media is confronted with increasing challenges in upholding truth, accountability and the public interest.

“The sudden death of Dotun Oladipo is deeply painful and has robbed the Nigerian media of a committed professional whose contributions to journalism and national discourse will not be forgotten,” Mark said.
He added that Oladipo understood the responsibility of the media in a democracy and used his profession to inform the public, interrogate issues of national importance and give voice to diverse perspectives.

“His death is not only a loss to his immediate family, friends and colleagues, but also to the wider journalism community and our nation,” he said.

The ADC national chairman condoled with Oladipo’s family, management and staff of Eagle Online, members of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) and the wider media community.

Mark urged the bereaved family to draw strength from the legacy left by the deceased, describing him as a journalist whose work positively impacted his profession and society.

He prayed to God to grant the family the strength to bear the loss and grant Oladipo eternal rest.
