2027: Turaki- led PDP Backs All-Opposition Alliance To Defeat APC

The Tanimu Turaki faction of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has endorsed moves by a group of 100 opposition stalwarts, known as the G-100, to establish an all-opposition platform aimed at challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

The party said its decision was informed by the need for opposition political parties and organisations to work together to address what it described as the growing challenges of poverty, insecurity and poor governance under the Bola Tinubu-led APC administration.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the PDP National Publicity Secretary of its Interim National Working Committee, Ini Ememobong, the party said it participated in the first meeting of the G-100 held on August 31, 2026.

The PDP said its participation was part of its earlier position to collaborate with “like-minded political parties and organisations” seeking to rescue the country from its current challenges.

According to the party’s National Chairman, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, the PDP’s participation in the process would be based on transparency, equality, data-driven decision-making and egalitarianism.

Turaki said the party believed that a process guided by those principles could produce credible leadership capable of addressing the country’s economic and security challenges.

The statement quoted him as saying, “Our participation is anchored on the promise that the process will be hinged on the philosophical underpinnings of transparency, equality, data-driven decisions and egalitarianism.”

He added that any outcome produced through such a process would offer Nigerians “credible leadership capable of alleviating the skyrocketing poverty and rising insecurity in the country.”

The PDP said its participation in the G-100 initiative demonstrated its readiness to contribute to the emergence of an all-opposition platform that would seek to wrest power from the APC in 2027 and “rebuild Nigeria for the good of all Nigerians.”
