Troops Sustain Onslaught On Terrorists, Rescue 6 Kidnap Victims In North West

Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West, “Operation FansanYamma” have rescued six kidnapped victims unharmed following a swift operation in Wasagu local government area of Kebbi State.

The rescue, which occurred on Tuesday was carried out at Mehinua Village on the Wasagu-Ayu Road after troops acted on credible intelligence on suspected terrorist activities in the area.

A statement issued yesterday in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital by the media information officer of the Joint Task Force, Lt-Col. Aliyu Danja, said the troops mobilised to the location and made contact with the terrorists.

According to him, “Troops engaged the terrorists with a high volume of fire. The prompt intervention forced the criminals to flee and abandon their victims.”

Following the encounter, the troops rescued the six abducted persons and recovered the vehicle used by the kidnappers. Both the victims and the vehicle were handed over to relevant community authorities for further action.

Danja noted that the operation underscored the determination of “Operation Fansan Yamma” to protect lives and property across the Joint Operations Area in the North West.

“The successful rescue operation demonstrates the resolve by the troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to safeguard the lives and property of law-abiding citizens,” the statement read.

The military authority also appreciated members of the public for their continuous support and urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest security outpost for prompt action.

The latest rescue comes amid renewed efforts by security forces to flush out bandits and restore normalcy to communities in Kebbi, Zamfara, Sokoto and Katsina states under the umbrella of Operation FANSAN YAMMA.
