Adamawa Digital Academy To Train 10,000 Students

The Adamawa State Government is set to launch a major digital skills initiative aimed at equipping more than 10,000 young people with practical technology skills and preparing them for opportunities in the modern workforce.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to digital education during an inspection visit to the Adamawa State Digital Academy.

Speaking to journalists after inspecting the facility, Governor Fintiri pledged to provide the necessary equipment, funding and other support required to ensure that the academy delivers high-quality and globally relevant training.

“The world is now in a digital age, and Adamawa cannot afford to be left behind—especially with so many smart and resilient young people in our state,” Fintiri said.

The Governor stressed that equipping young people with practical digital skills has become increasingly important in preparing them for emerging employment opportunities, entrepreneurship and participation in the global digital economy.

He said the initiative forms part of his administration’s broader efforts to invest in human capital development and create new opportunities for young people across the state.

The Coordinator of the Adamawa State Digital Academy, Sumayya Banbangida, disclosed that more than 10,000 prospective students had already registered online ahead of the academy’s official commencement of training.

She said the academy is designed to address unemployment and bridge the digital skills gap by providing young people with practical and in-demand technological skills that can enhance their employability and entrepreneurial prospects.

According to her, the academy will commence with 11 accredited courses available through its portal, covering key areas of the digital economy, including Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Software Development and Digital Marketing, among others.

The initiative is expected to provide participants with skills relevant to emerging industries while opening opportunities for remote employment, innovation and technology-driven entrepreneurship.

Governor Fintiri was accompanied on the inspection by senior government officials, including the Secretary to the State Government, the Chief of Staff and the Special Adviser on ICT and E-Governance.
