Uganda Reverses Decision To Withdraw From Prince Harry’s Invictus Games

Uganda has reversed its decision to withdraw from Prince Harry’s Invictus Games following clarification from Buckingham Palace on King Charles III’s stance on the country’s participation.

General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the chief of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces, had initially announced the country’s withdrawal to demonstrate respect for the British Monarchy. However, military spokesperson Chris Magezi confirmed that preparations have resumed following a phone conversation between Kainerugaba and the King’s private secretary, Sir Clive Alderton.

During the call, Alderton clarified that King Charles III has no objection to Uganda’s participation in the sporting event and encouraged the country to proceed with its plans. Uganda joined the Invictus Games earlier this year as the 26th participating nation and will now continue its preparations for the upcoming games in Birmingham.
