The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards took place on Monday, September 14, 2026, at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, California. The ceremony honoured the year’s top achievements in television, with Apple TV+’s The Widow’s Bay sweeping the comedy categories and HBO Max’s The Pitt securing the top drama prize. History was also made as Matthew Rhys became the first actor to win two lead acting Emmys in a single night for his performances in Widow’s Bay and Netflix’s The Beast in Me.
