A 13-year-old boy from Long Island, New York, Joe Petraro-Hyppolite, is set to begin a master’s degree programme in sports management at New York University while finishing his undergraduate degree.
Petraro-Hyppolite, who has an IQ of 168, scored 1,590 on the SAT at age 10 and earned his high school diploma at age 11. He is currently studying at Louisiana State University and is expected to complete his undergraduate degree in May 2027 before starting his graduate studies at NYU.
His master’s programme will focus on sports management alongside kinesiology and biology. Speaking on his progress, the teenager noted that he was both nervous and excited about the new academic opportunities.
His mother, Anne Petraro-Hyppolite, stated that his achievements are particularly notable as he was previously placed in special education classes after being diagnosed with Tourette syndrome. Petraro-Hyppolite explained that while he learns concepts quickly, his success still requires study and effort.
Outside of his university coursework, the teenager volunteers at a nursing home in Long Island and aims to pursue a career as a paleontologist.
