Gov Umo Eno Approves Appointment of 4,000 Civil Servants in Akwa Ibom

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has approved the immediate release of appointment letters to 4,000 successful applicants recruited into the state civil service, marking one of the largest public service recruitment exercises under his administration.

The governor announced the development on Friday via his verified Facebook page, saying the appointments will officially take effect on October 1, 2026, while successful candidates are expected to resume work on October 2, 2026.

Announcing the approval, Eno wrote, “I have approved the immediate release of appointment letters to 4,000 successful applicants recruited into the Akwa Ibom State Civil Service.

“Appointments take effect on Oct. 1st; they are expected to resume work on October 2.”

The governor did not disclose the specific ministries, departments or agencies where the new employees will be deployed, but said appointment letters would be released immediately to successful candidates.

The announcement brings to a close months of anticipation following the state’s civil service recruitment exercise, which attracted thousands of applicants seeking employment in the public sector.

The recruitment process involved applications, screening and selection of candidates before the final approval by the governor.

With the latest approval, the successful applicants are expected to join the Akwa Ibom State workforce at the beginning of October, expanding the state’s civil service across various sectors.

The approval is expected to provide employment opportunities for thousands of residents in Akwa Ibom, where public sector jobs remain a major source of formal employment.

According to the governor, all 4,000 appointments become effective from October 1, 2026, while newly employed civil servants are to report for duty the following day, October 2, 2026.
