“Here in Nigeria”- Former president, Olusegun Obasanjo on what he did to Queen Elizabeth

‎Former Nigerian military ruler, Olusegun Obasanjo has opened up on hosting Queen Elizabeth in Nigeria, which has got social media buzzing.

‎ In a recent interview on Curiosity Made Me Ask hosted by Isbeau, Obasanjo disclosed that he hosted the former British monarch during his presidency.

What Led To The Revelation

‎What prompted the revelation was Isbaeu bragging about the international recognition of his show.

‎However, the former military Head of State fired back, noting that he has travelled to the United Kingdom prior to the content creator’s birth.

‎”Me , I received Queen Elizabeth here in Nigeria. If I know Queen Elizabeth, who don’t you know?”, He inquired

‎Olusegun Obasanjo Host Queen Elizabeth In Nigeria



‎It would be recalled that Olusegun Obasanjo received Queen Elizabeth II in Nigeria on December 3, 2003, during his civilian administration.

‎The Queen arrived in Abuja for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), which Nigeria hosted from December 5 to 8, 2003.

‎Notably, it was her first state visit to Nigeria since independence and her second visit overall, after her first tour in 1956.

Speaking about the encounter after her death in September 2022, Obasanjo said he had tremendous respect for the late monarch and described his relationship with her as perfect.

He noted that he was about to leave secondary school when the Queen first visited Nigeria in 1956, and he was fortunate to host her 47 years later as President in 2003.
