Nollywood actress Doris Ogala has tackled Apostle Johnson Suleman over his comments on Abia State and alleged indirect political campaigning by pastors.
Ogala questioned the cleric’s role as a pastor while criticising some people who identify as pastors for allegedly using religion as a means of making a living.
“Most people you see that call themselves pastors are lazy people who couldn’t work but decided to call themselves and start deceiving by claiming God called them. Some even go extra mile to involve in voodoo.
Suleman Johnson, what is his work? Does that man look and behave like a pastor? Suleman, I know a lot that will shock the world. Forget the fact I said I don’t know you. I know a lot that happened at Protea Hotel Lagos, including room numbers.”
The actress also challenged Suleman over his comments about electricity in Abia State, questioning his claim that there is 24-hour electricity in the state.
She further warned that she would use Suleman as an example to challenge pastors whom she believes use indirect statements to campaign for political leaders, while also mentioning Pastor Jerry Eze.
“How dare you come to lie that there’s 24-hour light in Abia? And you claim you were not campaigning. Suleman Johnson, I will use you as an example to put an end to pastors using indirect speech to campaign for failed leaders. Even Jerry Eze, I’m waiting for you to try it. Even the one you did with Obi, you go collect.”
Ogala’s remarks have generated reactions online, with some viewers debating the role of pastors in politics and others focusing on her allegations against Suleman.
Her comments have once again drawn attention to the debate over the involvement of religious leaders in Nigeria’s political space.
