Zamfara LG Chairman Relocates To Abuja For Medicals, Bedrest After Escaping Bandits’ Den

The Chairman of Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State, Hon. Nura Umar Abdullahi, who escaped from bandits’ captivity, has relocated to Abuja for medical attention and bedrest.

Abdullahi, who spoke exclusively with LEADERSHIP on Friday via telephone, said he escaped from his abductors without sustaining any injury.

“I am very okay and I am in my right senses. I do not have any injury on my body. I am fine and in good condition,” he said.

The chairman said he was taken to the Operation Fansan Yamma base in Gusau, where he underwent medical checks after regaining his freedom.

LEADERSHIP gathered that he was treated for malaria and other ailments associated with spending several days in the bush.

“You know I was outside for many days, not inside a room. So there is bound to be malaria and all that. But for now, I am very okay,” he added.

Abdullahi said he had relocated from Gusau to Abuja to enable him to have adequate rest before returning to Bungudu to celebrate his freedom with his people.

“Anybody that spent that number of days in the bush needs to rest. We have restricted interviews for now. After about a week, I will go back to my town in Bungudu Local Government so that people can celebrate with me,” he said.

Earlier, in a telephone conversation with the Director-General, Media to the Chairman of Bungudu Local Government Area, Umar Rabiu, the aide said the medical facility of Operation Fansan Yamma in Gusau treated the chairman for malaria, typhoid and fever.

According to Rabiu, the chairman has been advised to refrain from granting press interviews for now on the recommendation of security agencies and medical personnel.
