Imumolen-led Accord Party Says It Has No Governorship Candidate In Oyo

The Prof. Chris Imumolen-led faction of the Accord Party has said that neither Dr. Oriyomi Hamzat nor Hon. Olakunle Busari (Gudugudu) is the legitimate gubernatorial candidate of the Accord Party in Oyo State.

The National Secretary of the Accord Party under Imumolen’s leadership, Abdullahi Muktar, said this in a statement on Sunday.

He said the parallel processes that produced the “two names have been rejected and nullified by our faction, and we maintain that a proper and legitimate process must be conducted in accordance with the law and the authentic leadership structure of the party.”

“INEC should, therefore, review and adjust its records to reflect the actual legal status of the Accord Party and its Oyo State gubernatorial nomination.

“Prof. Chris Imumolen, National Chairman of Accord, said the party’s leadership dispute is now back before the Federal High Court, where the issue of the legitimate leadership of Accord will ultimately be determined.

“We remain confident that, once the court settles the matter, all relevant institutions, including INEC, will be required to comply with the binding decision of the court.

“The era of confusion must end. Accord deserves one legitimate leadership, one lawful process and one authentic structure,” the party secretary said.
