Conference Calls For Bold Leadership, Innovation Across Africa

The third edition of the Paradigm Shift Conference (PSC 3.0) has called for bold leadership, innovation and entrepreneurship as key drivers of sustainable development across Africa.

Speaking at the conference held in Abuja, the convener, Dr Stephen O. Enike-Matthew, challenged Nigerians and Africans to reject limiting beliefs and embrace the possibilities inherent in leadership, innovation, entrepreneurship and personal transformation.

Enike-Matthew said the theme of the conference, “Impossibility Is Nothing: Yes You Can,” was more than a motivational slogan, describing it as a call to action aimed at reshaping mindsets, inspiring excellence and raising a new generation of transformational leaders.

The conference attracted participants from government, business, academia and the development sector, including former Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Frank Mba (rtd), founder of the Jennifer Ubah Women and Children Initiative (JUWACI), Chief Jennifer Hembafan Alih, traditional rulers, entrepreneurs, policymakers and emerging leaders.

Enike-Matthew described the gathering as a movement dedicated to unlocking human potential and encouraging individuals to rise above perceived limitations.

According to him, many people have been conditioned to believe that economic hardship, social background and environmental circumstances determine their future.

“The world has told you Nigeria is too hard to build wealth, your background determines your future and your dreams are too big. Today, we tear that report apart and write a new one,” he said.

He maintained that impossibility is often a matter of perception rather than reality, urging participants to develop the confidence and capacity to pursue ambitious goals.

“Impossibility is not a fact; it is an opinion. Your opinion of yourself is more powerful than the world’s opinion of you,” he added.

The conference featured discussions around four key areas: mindset, leadership, business and wealth creation, and women empowerment, with emphasis on practical approaches to personal and professional growth.

On leadership, Enike-Matthew argued that Africa’s challenge is not a lack of resources but a shortage of resolute leadership capable of translating vision into development.

“Africa does not lack resources. It has lacked resolute leadership,” he said, adding that leadership goes beyond titles and involves taking responsibility for identified possibilities.

The conference also explored entrepreneurship, economic empowerment and wealth creation, with Enike-Matthew encouraging participants to consider entrepreneurship, agribusiness and global career opportunities as pathways to sustainable prosperity.

A major highlight of the event was the launch of two books authored by the convener, Beyond Survival and The Art of Dreaming Big, which seek to encourage individuals to pursue lives of purpose, impact and prosperity.

In his closing charge, Enike-Matthew urged participants to become active agents of change by making decisions, building strategic relationships and collaborating to create opportunities.

“If anyone tells you it cannot be done, look them in the eye and say: Impossibility is nothing. Yes, I can,” he declared.
