Kwara G15 Supporters Return To APC

Former members and grassroots mobilisers of the G15 political group across the four local government areas of Kwara Central have announced their return to the All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring support for Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the party’s governorship candidate, Engr.Yakubu Danladi – Salihu , and other APC candidates.

Addressing journalists in Ilorin , the spokesman for the group, Alh Abdulwahab Ajibola, described their decision as the outcome of what they called ‘careful reflection on political experiences and activities within the G15’.

“We are former members, supporters, grassroots mobilisers and political actors who worked tirelessly across the four LGAs of Kwara Central in support of several prominent political figures associated with the G-15, including Senator Saliu Mustapha, Senator Yahaya Oloriegbe, Amb. Yahaya Seriki, Hon. Yinka Aluko and others,” he disclosed.

He said the members were actively involved in grassroots mobilisation, including organising meetings, engaging young people and women, visiting communities, coordinating supporters and mobilising voters during previous political activities.

Ajibola said their experience at the grassroots had enabled them to develop a deeper understanding of the political realities in their communities, adding that their decision to return to the APC was informed by their assessment of where their experience and networks could best be deployed.

He alleged that the political project associated with the G15 had, in their experience, increasingly shifted from what they described as the collective interests of ordinary Kwarans towards the political ambitions and calculations of some individuals.

“We have returned to the All Progressives Congress ( APC) under the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. We have returned to the mainstream of our party and to the political family where we believe our energy, experience and grassroots networks can be deployed towards something bigger than individual ambition,” Ajibola said.

The group reaffirmed its support for Governor AbdulRazaq and declared total support for the APC governorship candidate,Engr. Yakubu Danladi- Salihu as well as all duly nominated candidates of the party in the forthcoming general elections.

Ajibola stressed that their decision was not motivated by promises of political appointments or other benefits, saying it was instead based on their experiences and reflections from years of grassroots political activities.

“We are returning to the political family where we believe our collective strength can be used for the advancement of our state. We recognise the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Abdul Rahman Abdul Razaq, CON, and we acknowledge the efforts of his administration in moving Kwara forward.

“We may disagree on certain issues from time to time. That is normal in politics. But disagreement should never become an excuse to destroy the political platform through which the people have entrusted leadership,” said .
The former G15 members further appealed to actors associated with the group to pursue reconciliation and dialogue, urging them to put aside political differences and prioritise what they described as the collective interests of Kwara State.

For his part, the senior special assistant to the Governor on Political Matters Prince Sulaiman Abubakar (Sai Kai) rejoiced with members of G15 for taking the bold step of returning to the mainfold of the APC, assuring them of level playing field under the leadership of Governor AbdulRazaq.
