2027: Makinde Picks Amos Dunia As Special Adviser, Public Affairs

The Presidential Candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and Oyo State Governor, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has appointed veteran journalist, former Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) chieftain and publisher, Mr. Amos Dunia, as his Special Adviser on Public Affairs.

The appointment, according to a statement signed by the Director of Strategic Communications of the Makinde/Daura Presidential Campaign Organisation (MDPCO), Richard Ihediwa, takes immediate effect.

Dunia, a seasoned journalist with extensive experience across both broadcast and print media, has worked with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), New Nigerian Newspapers, The Sun Newspapers and Blueprint Newspapers.

He is also a co-founder of Forefront Magazine and its online platform.

Dunia previously served as Chairman of the NUJ FCT Council and later as National Consultant of the NUJ on Politics and Union Matters.

According to the statement, his appointment is expected to bring his wealth of experience, professional networks, communication skills and expertise as a journalist, public affairs commentator, communication specialist and publisher to the Makinde/Daura Presidential Campaign Organisation.

As Special Adviser on Public Affairs and a spokesperson for the campaign, Dunia is expected to work alongside other professionals in communicating the campaign’s “Reset Nigeria” message ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The campaign organisation said the appointment is part of efforts to strengthen its communications machinery and engage Nigerians on the vision and objectives of the Makinde/Daura ticket.

The Presidential Candidate also charged members of the Makinde/Daura Presidential Campaign, leaders, supporters and members of the APM, as well as Nigerians generally, to remain committed to what the campaign described as a collective effort to use the 2027 presidential election to “Reset” the country.

According to the statement, the campaign’s objective is to put Nigeria “back on the path of stability, national cohesion and economic prosperity.”
