We’re Not Yet Aware Of Nationwide Warning Strike — Workers

Some federal government workers in Rivers State, have said they are yet to be informed about the commencement of a nationwide strike as directed by the Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council (JNPSNC).

JNPSNC had ordered the three-day warning strike over worsening economic hardship, soaring fuel prices, and the federal government’s failure to address demands contained in a letter sent to President Bola Tinubu.

When LEADERSHIP Weekend visited the Federal Secretariat Complex in Port Harcourt on Friday, normal official businesses were going on.

Speaking with our correspondent, one of the civil servants, who spoke on the condition of anonymity said, “Our union leaders here are yet to formally inform us about the warning strike. We are just hearing rumours.”

However, at the Rivers State Secretariat Complex in Port Harcourt, nothing could be gotten by LEADERSHIP Weekend about the warning strike as the complex is presently undergoing renovation.

The state government had in February directed civil servants, especially those of the junior cadre to work from home until the renovation work is completed in January 2027.
